SUPER FARM – LIMITED PRO TRACTOR SURVEY RESULTS

The Limited Pro Stock and Super Farm tractors recently participated in a rules survey from the USA-EAST Tech and Safety Committee.  The survey was prompted by a number of calls for changes to the rules for 2012.  A total of twenty-six (26) of the surveys were returned and tabulated by the deadline date of November 1st.  Three others arrived after the deadline had passed.

Should Limited Pro Stock Tractors be permitted to run a ‘P’ Pump  as an option beginning in 2012?  The overwhelming number of pullers voted NO on this question and thus only the current ‘A’ pumps will be permitted in 2012.

Should Limited Pro Stock Tractors using NON-OEM intakes continue to lose 200 pounds and run at 8500 pounds?  Most pullers who responded to this question were in favor of allowing the non-OEM intakes on Limited Pros and taking 200 pounds from those tractors.  This will continue to be a rule for 2012.

Should Super Farm Tractors be permitted to use a NON-OEM intake manifold beginning in 2012?  This was the most narrow vote on the survey with a short majority in favor of this change.

Should Super Farm Tractors that use a NON-OEM intake in 2012 be required to weigh 9100lbs?  The vast majority of the responders felt that the tractors should weigh 9100 pounds when they use the NON-OEM intakes.  This will be added to the USA-EAST rulebook for 2012.  Stickers with 9100 will be prepared for those tractors.

Should Super Farm Tractors using Ohio State and NTPA rules receive a 200lb weight advantage?   This failed by a fairly wide margin.  However we expect that this weight advantage could affect the pull at Canfield, Ohio in 2012.  If the ‘invitational’ at the 2012 Canfield Fair allows the extra weight for NTPA or OSTPA Super Farms, the class would have to be run without USA-EAST points – but still with a raised purse.

How many point hooks should be scheduled for the USA-EAST Limited Pro/Super Farm class in 2012?  Answers varied from a low of ‘eight’ to ‘as many as we can get’ and everywhere in between.  The average of those who provided real numbers was 14.7.  So we will endeavor to keep the number of USA-EAST point hooks near to fifteen in 2012.

Should mandatory water and fuel testing begin in Limited Pro/Super Farm classes in 2012?  The majority were not in favor of making this mandatory.  We received many comments on this question and the tech and safety committee will continue to look into some simpler (and cheaper) options in the coming years.  Pullers should be aware of the fact that fuel and/or water testing is always an option by the officials at any event on the USA-EAST schedule.

The response to the survey was outstanding.  Many of the pullers wrote notes and added extensive comments to the questions.  These comments were read aloud and in many cases helped the committee to make their decisions.  The fact that everyone had to sign their survey sheet made it mach easier to see how voting between Limited Pro owners and Super Farm owners was split.

The 2012 USA-EAST rulebook is nearly completed and should be ready in the next couple of weeks.  Membership forms for 2012 have been mailed to all former members with the deadline for early – reduced price – memberships set for December 15th.
