CANFIELD OHIO PULL THIS SATURDAY The Canfield Grand National Tractor and Truck pull is set for this Saturday, September 4th at 7:00pm. Once again in 2010 the pull will be co-sanctioned by USA-EAST Sled Pulling and the National Tractor Pullers Association (NTPA) of Worthington, Ohio. This is the largest co-sanctioned pull in the nation this year and is expected to draw another overflow crowd to the Canfield Fair. The Fair is located just south of Youngstown, Ohio only minutes from the Pennsylvania state line and boasts as being the #1 County Fair in the Buckeye State.
Vaughn Bauer from Paton, Iowa will provide both of his “Iron Man” weight sleds at Canfield. These are the same weight sleds that were used at the national championship in Bowling Green, Ohio a week ago. Six different pulling classes are scheduled at the Canfield Grand Nationals in 2010 and will be contested on two side-by-side tracks:
Track ONE is nearest to the grandstand and will start with the USA-EAST “Smoker Series” Tractors that permit Super Stock Tractors at 9500 pounds to compete along with the Pro Stock Tractors at 10,000 pounds. This is an open class with NO memberships required in order to participate.
Second class on Track ONE will be the awesome NTPA GRAND NATIONAL Unlimited Modified Tractors with three, four and even five automotive style engines churning out nearly 10,000 horsepower. This class will feature the 2009 European Champion Intertech Lambada from Holland as well as the multiple NTPA champion American Thunder.
Finally on Track ONE will be the ‘shoot out’ between the NTPA Super Semis and the Big Rigs from USA-EAST. The previous meeting of the two groups at the Lake County Fair in Painesville, Ohio had Jerry Walker from Illinois sitting at the top of sixteen competitors with his all-new “Two of a Kind” Super Semi. Joe Giulitto from nearby Ravenna, Ohio has won the last two Big Rigs pulls with his newly built “Sneeky Pete” with Caterpillar power.
Track TWO on the infield side will feature three different classes from the USA-EAST Series. Two of the classes for trucks are strictly ‘invitational’ in nature with the trucks chosen by their position within the 2010 USA-EAST point races. The ‘Run What Ya Brung” 4x4 trucks with both modified gasoline trucks and modified diesel trucks has all of the major brands represented. And the Pro Stock Diesel 4x4 division is mostly a Dodge/Cummins affair with only one Chevrolet earning a place in the competition. The list of trucks that have qualified for the ‘invitational’ classes is found on the web at www.fullpullproductions.com.
Also on track two is the “Finals” for the USA-EAST Limited Pro and Super Farm tractors. This class is ‘open to the world’ with NO memberships required in order to enter and participate. 8700 pound Limited Pro Stock Tractors and 9300 pound Super Farm tractors compete in this open entry division expected to draw some twenty tractors to Canfield in 2010.
The Canfield Grand Nationals is promoted by Full Pull Productions of Jamestown, Pennsylvania and is the largest pull of this kind in the eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania area.
