HAIRHOGER IS STREET SEMI CHAMPION FOR 2009

Without a doubt one of the most powerfulstreet licensed semi trucks in the eastern United States is the Kenworth driven by Gerry Hairhoger from New Gallilee in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.  And in 2009 the truck that is named “Gerry-Atricks” has made it to the top of the class by winning the USA-EAST Championship.  This is the first ever championship for the 1973 Kenworth.  Hairhoger has been involved in street semi truck pulling for a number of years and his finished near the top of the point race in the past.  Hairhoger is a member of the famed “Pennsylvania Posse” – a group of eight high-powered street licensed semi trucks that travels around the state of Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York in a quest for supremacy in this highly competitive class of pulling.

‘Gerry-Atricks’ is powered by a 1150 cubic inch Cummins KT-600 engine.  Hairhoger’s son (Jerry, Jr.) is the crew chief on the truck and is responsible for keeping the big engine in good running order.  The truck has performed flawlessly in 2009 with only minor issues and has been able to participate in each of the pulls with the USA-EAST sanctioning body.

Hairhoger claimed a victory at the Trumbull County Fair in Cortland, Ohio to open his USA-EAST championship season.  He was also the winner at the Western Maryland Shoot-Out at Deep Creek, Maryland a week later when he defeated the 2008 street semi champ in a very hard fought pull-off.   He then reeled off four straight wins at the end of the season (Clearfield County, PA - Lawrence County, PA – Columbiana County, OH – Crawford County, PA) to claim the championship.
