| USA-EAST ADOPTS ‘NEW’ “HOT FARM” TRACTOR RULES

A recent meeting of the USA-EAST tech and safety committee has resulted in the adoption of a new set of rules for “Hot Farm” tractors. This class was dropped by the USA-EAST sanctioning body three years ago due to the fact that there were so many different rules in effect in northwestern Pennsylvania and in eastern Ohio. It was hoped that the various clubs in this region would develop a set of rules that would be less restrictive. That has not happened and the class as run by the clubs continues to be designed to ‘keep tractors out’ rather than include tractors from all domains.
“We know that there are many good running tractors in this area that are just not ready to move into our Limited Pro and Super Farm division”, said Rick Feicht, President of Full Pull Productions. “We want to offer a class where all tractors of this type can come and pull. And we wanted to leave the class open to the owner of a strong running farm tractor who may want to hook in their hometown.” Hence the adoption of the new set of rules.
These “Hot Farm” rules were originally developed by the Clarion County Fair under the direction of Jack Snyder, the chairman of the annual pulls near New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Snyder is also a certified tech inspector and official with USA-EAST. The officials took the Clarion County Fair rules and made some minor changes in order to arrive at the rules that will be used by USA-EAST in 2012.
In addition to the Clarion County Fair, the “Hot Farm” Tractors will participate at the annual Pennsylvania Power Pull at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds near New Castle and at the 2012 Jefferson County Fair at Brookville. The class will also be a part of the inaugural USA-EAST sanctioned pulls at the Great Stoneboro Fair in Stoneboro, Pennsylvania in late August. And we continue to work with Bunker Hill “Shoot-Out” in Beloit, Ohio on scheduling a class for the “Hot Farms” this summer.
