GETS FIRST 2011 WIN
AT CRAWFORD COUNTY FAIR
Laine Jobes of Marion Center in Indiana County has had more than his share of problems with his super running Ford Limited Pro in 2011. Issues with the transmission kept him away for some of the early events this season and most recently a faulty turbo-charger caused the “Patience of Jobe” machine to miss some vital point events on the USA-EAST circuit.
But that all changed on Monday evening at the Crawford County Fair in Meadville, Pennsylvania when “Patience of Jobe” picked up its very first USA-EAST series win while taking on fourteen other very formidible foes on a very tough pulling surface in Northwestern Pennsylvania. No tractors made a full pull on this night, but Jobes’ pull of 289.99 was the best of the batch as Laine grabbed his first win. Jobes was joined in the pit area by the team from Wimer Diesel – the pump people from nearby Sandy Lake, PA – as they helped to celebrate the huge victory. The “Patience of Jobe” tractor was a co-operative building effort with Jay Smith of Fulks Run, Virginia, the builder of the former championship tractor “Moody Blue”.
Ross Martin with “Runnin’ Red Warrior” finished 2nd after taking the top spot on Saturday night in fron t of his home town fans at the Lawrence County Fair in New Castle, Pennsylvania. And the surprise third place finisher was “Green Blooded” 6030 Deere for Ryan Kirkpatrick of Rimersburg, Pennsylvania with one of his best runs of 2011. Taking the fourth place was the IH 7066 of John Wilkins from Fresno, Ohio named “Shotgun Red” with perhaps the best trip that tractor has had since converting to the Limited Pro Stock class this season.
The Limited Pros and Super Farms now head to the Canfield Fair in Canfield, Ohio for the biggest event of their season that is also the ‘finals’ for the division with USA-EAST. The champion will be crown that night in Canfield. The Limited Pros and Super Farm class at Canfield in 2011 will be strictly ‘invitational’ with the top twelve tractors in the USA-EAST point race receiving automatic invites to the Saturday, September 3rd pull.
