SERTOMA TRUCK PULLS
SET FOR MEADVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA ON SATURDAY, JUNE 12TH
For many years in the mid-1990s the Meadville Band Boosters Association promoted a highly successful pulling event in the month of June at the Crawford County Fairgrounds in Meadville, Pennsylvania. This super event will return in 2010 as the Meadville Sertoma Club will join forces with Full Pull Productions to promote the first annual “Sertoma Truck Pulls” at the fairgrounds. This giant event will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 with a 6:30pm starting time. In case of inclement weather, the pull will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm.
The featured class at the ‘Sertoma Truck Pulls’ will be the Modified 4x4 Trucks from the Run What Ya Brung Series. These highly modified 4x4 truck class will accept both modified gasoline trucks and also the diesel-fueled modified FWD trucks. The RWYB class will be contested for points within the USA-EAST Series. Last year’s point champion in RWYB was the 1950 Chevrolet owned by Todd Berkey from Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The top diesel truck from a year ago is owned by Wayne Greier, with a Super Stock Diesel 4x4 named ‘Resurrected Ram’ that was 2nd in the USA-EAST point race a year ago and figures to be one of the trucks to beat in 2010. But two trucks from Crawford County will also be ready to grab the victory as the father and son team of Mark and Sam Tatalovic from Guys Mills join into the contest.
One of the highlights of the event will be the first-ever co-sanctioned pull for the 2.6 Street Diesel 4x4 Trucks. The National Association of Diesel Motorsports (NADM) organization will join with USA-EAST for this pull. Pullers wil be able to collect points in one or both sanctioning body’s point races for 2010. If a puller wants NADM points he will have to be a member of NADM. If a puller wants USA-EAST points that puller must be a member of USA-EAST. However if a puller merely wants to attend the pull and compete, there is no membership required. And exclusively for NADM member trucks, this pull will be one of the “qualifers” for the ultimate diesel 4x4 championship – the NADM AirDog Invitational to be held during the Jamboree at Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday, September 19th.
Dale ‘Pops’ Bennett from Salem, Ohio is the reigning champion with the USA-EAST Series and will definitely be trying for a repeat in 2010 with his Duramax Chevrolet named, “Social Security”. Bennett has indicated that he will also run for NADM points this season. This co-sanctioned pull is possible in 2010 due to the fact that USA-EAST has adopted the official NADM rules for the 2.6 Diesel division.
Fans at the “Sertoma Truck Pulls” will also be treated to a division of the all-new Pro Street Gasoline 4x4 class. The class was started as a very ‘hot stock’ gasoline FWD division for 2010 and will draw from the very best licensed trucks in the area that are running on gasoline. Craig Bell from nearby Titusville, Pennsylvania will be one of the local favorites with his four wheel drive Ford F-350 with nearly 500 cubic inches of Ford motorsport power under the hood.
Another great addition to the 2010 “Sertoma Truck Pulls” will be the appearance of the famed Pennsylvania Posse semi trucks. These high-powered single turbo-charger semis are still licensed for the highway but pack a wallop of power on the track. Jack Griggs from Conneaut Lake is always one of the local trucks to watch when he brings his 998 cubic inch Mack into the pulling class.
Advance tickets for this pull will be available from any member of the Meadville Area Sertoma club in the month prior to June 12th. These advance tickets will sell for $10.00 for adults. Adult grandstand tickets at the gate on the day of the pull will be sold for $12.00 on a first-come, first-served basis. All Kids tickets will be just five dollars and will only be sold on the date of the pull. Pit passes that will include infield parking will be available at the pit gate at a cost of $15.00 per person. All persons entering the pit area will be required to sign a waiver form.
