CONGRATULATIONS
GEORGE NICHELSON TAKES PRO STREET GAS CROWN
One of the most popular trucks on the USA-EAST circuit in 2011 was the gleaming silver Chevrolet of George Nichelson from Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. It was not the color that attracted attention – it was the fact the Nichelson was driving a 1939 Chevrolet with a very large 540 cubic inch engine squeezed into the space that had been originally designated for the ever-popular GM inline six!! A truck that started out with around 85 horsepower from the factory ran for the Nichelson Team in 2011 with nearly ten times that power!!
But with all of that going for him, George Nichelson had to wait for the final hook of the final event in Clearfield, Pennsylvania to barely win the 2011 championship for the newly created Pro Street GAS 4x4 Truck division. The ’39 Chevy’ took early season wins at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds in New Castle and at the Trumbull County Fair in Cortland, Ohio over the 4th of July week-end, but then had to wait for just over a month to get the win at Lisbon, Ohio. But over that month, Nichelson ran off a string of five straight runner-up finishes to keep the truck in the tight point race.
Nichelson is the owner of Pleasant Valley Automotive in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania and has a knack for bringing some very special pulling trucks to the USA-EAST pulling series. A year ago he competed in RWYB with a very nice 1957 GMC 4x4 truck and the talk is that he will be bringing a brand new truck to RWYB for the 2012 campaign.
Congratulations to George Nichelson and his 1939 Chevrolet –
the champion in Pro Street GAS 4x4 with USA-EAST for 2011 |
