PRO STREET GAS 4x4 HAS TWO NEW WINNERS

ON FOURTH OF JULY WEEK-END

The new Pro Street Gasoline 4x4 truck division is proving to be a very competitive class within the USA-EAST Pulling structure.  Not only has the class produced some great new trucks and many new drivers, the class has also show to be a ‘toss-up’ as to who will get to the winner circle on any given evening of pulling.  This was certainly the case over the 4th of July week-end as the two winners were both ‘first time winners’ with USA-EAST.

On Friday evening at the Trumbull County Fair in Cortland, Ohio the completely re-built “Tragic Magic” Ford from the Jeff Mitchell Team of Salem, Ohio eeked out a win in a very close pull-off with points leader Mark Petros and “Public Enemy”.  Mitchell, who is the swimming pool and spa business in Columbiana County had competed in the ‘Run What Ya Brung’ class for the past two years but had never captured a win in that division.  When the new Pro Street Gas class was developed in October of 2009, Mitchell was instrumental in helping to set the rules and regulations for the class.  “I thought that I would fit perfectly into this new class”, said a delighted Mitchell surrounded by his children in the winner’s circle.  “Tragic Magic” is a 540 cubic inch Ford that has certainly made an impact early on with the new class of pulling.

And then on Saturday at the Big Butler Fair in Prospect, Pennsylvania another truck that has never had a USA-EAST series win rose to the occasion.  The old master, Ron Cuttrell from Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, took over the driving duties from regular pilot, Jason Klejka, and pushed the “Chevy Thunder” truck into the number one position.  Cuttrell who was also the crew chief for Todd Berkey’s ‘1950 Chevy’, the 2009 RWYB champion has been involved in truck pulling for many years and is well credited with a wealth of knowledge.  On Saturday the 540 cubic inch Chevrolet was the best as again Mark Petros and “Public Enemy” finished as the runner-up at Butler.

The Pro Street Gas 4x4 class will next take to the track during the Western Maryland Championship on Saturday, July 10th at 6:30pm.  This event will be held at the picturesque Garrett County Fairgrounds in Deep Creek, Maryland and will feature ‘Smokers’, Semis and the opening leg of the Global Truck Outfitters Series for the 2.6 Diesel 4x4 trucks.
